Vietnamese is also spoken in many other countries including Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Côte d'Ivoire, Finland, France, Germany, Laos, Martinique, Netherlands, New Caledonia, Norway, Philippines, Senegal, Thailand, United Kingdom and USA.
There are various mutually intelligible dialects, the main three being:

Northern Vietnamese (Tonkinese)
Hanoi dialect, Other Northern dialects: Haiphong, and various provincial forms

Central Vietnamese (High Annamese),
Huế dialect, Nghệ An dialect, Quảng Nam dialect High

Southern Vietnamese (Cochinchinese)
Saigon dialect, Mekong (Far West) dialect

Mostly Northern/Southern Vietnamese dialects are predominatly used in most media communications.
